privacy policy
clipbox is built to do as little with your information as possible. this page explains exactly what that means in practice — what we collect, what we don't, and what choices you have.
this privacy policy describes how USW OÜ ("clipbox", "we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the clipbox ios application. by using clipbox, you agree to the practices set out below.
01 information we collect
information you provide
- youtube urls you add to your playlists. stored locally on your device.
- names and ordering of your playlists. stored locally on your device.
- camera roll videos you import. when you grant clipbox access to your photo library and select videos to add to a playlist, those videos are referenced locally on your device. we do not upload them to any server.
information collected automatically
- subscription status. when you purchase a clipbox subscription, apple processes the transaction through storekit. we receive anonymized, aggregate purchase records from apple — never your payment details, name or address.
- crash and performance data. if you have crash reporting enabled in your ios settings (settings → privacy & security → analytics & improvements), apple may share anonymized diagnostic data with us to help us improve the app.
information from third parties
- youtube content. when you play a youtube video inside clipbox, the video is loaded from youtube's servers via the youtube iframe player api. youtube may collect data about that playback (such as ip address, cookies and viewing data) under google's privacy policy. we do not control or have access to that data.
what clipbox does not collect:
your name, email address or phone number. account credentials (clipbox has no user accounts). location data. contacts, calendar or messages. your browsing history outside clipbox. behavioural advertising profiles. we do not sell, rent or share your data with advertisers.
02 how we use information
we use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:
- to provide, maintain and improve the clipbox app
- to process and manage your subscription
- to diagnose and fix crashes and performance issues
- to comply with legal obligations where applicable
we do not use your information for behavioural advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose unrelated to operating clipbox.
03 where your data is stored
the vast majority of your data — your playlists, your imported videos, your youtube urls — never leaves your iphone. it is stored locally using apple's standard app storage and protected by ios device security.
the exceptions are:
- subscription records are held by apple in connection with your apple id, under apple's privacy practices.
- youtube content is streamed from youtube/google servers each time you play it.
- future icloud sync. if a future version of clipbox introduces icloud sync and you choose to enable it, your playlist data will be synced through your personal icloud account, governed by apple's privacy framework. we will never have access to it.
04 third parties we work with
- apple inc. — app distribution, payment processing, optional crash reporting. apple's privacy policy.
- youtube / google llc — video playback for youtube-sourced content. google's privacy policy.
we do not work with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics providers that profile individual users.
05 your rights
depending on where you live, applicable data protection laws — including the eu/uk general data protection regulation (gdpr) and the california consumer privacy act (ccpa) — give you rights including:
- right of access — request a copy of any personal information we hold about you
- right to rectification — correct inaccurate information
- right to erasure — request deletion of your personal information
- right to restrict or object to processing
- right to data portability
- right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
to exercise any of these rights, email us at info@clipbox.ee. because clipbox stores nearly all data locally on your device, the most direct way to erase your data is to delete the clipbox app from your iphone — this removes all locally stored playlists, references and settings.
06 children's privacy
clipbox is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. if you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used clipbox, deleting the app from the device removes all associated data.
07 security
we rely on apple's ios security model to protect data stored on your device. subscription processing happens through apple over encrypted channels. youtube content is loaded over https. because clipbox maintains no user accounts and no server-side database of personal information, the risk of a data breach affecting our users is structurally minimal.
08 international transfers
if you use clipbox from outside the european economic area, your interactions with apple's payment systems and youtube's content servers may involve transfers of limited data to the united states or other jurisdictions. these transfers are governed by apple's and google's respective privacy frameworks and the standard contractual clauses they rely on.
09 changes to this policy
we may update this policy from time to time. the "effective" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. material changes will be communicated through the app store release notes for new versions of clipbox.
